Now it is the home of Richard and Virginia Latham who acquired it in 1974 and have spent much of the time since restoring the house to its georgian splendour and working in the gardens and the surrounding estate to enhance enjoyment of the enchanting landscape setting a haven for our guest bed and breakfast guests.
A Roman road prehistoric Tumuli a Saxon graveyard and a Norman motte and bailey castle are all within a half mile of the house which mainly dates from the early part of the 18th century The thunder of the artillery barrages on the western front during World War I could be heard from here and more recently General Montgomery made this house his Headquarters in 1940 when the threat of invasion was real and when East Kent was the scene of the Battle of Britain.
