Hotel Details
First opened as a restaurant in 1962 this historic Grade 2 listed property has long been regarded as one of the finest food destinations in Kent. Upon acquiring the business in 2016 the restaurant and rooms have undergone full refurbishment breathing new life into the premises whilst retaining the conventional charm that underpins this quintessential Kentish location. The restaurant itself takes it s inspiration from Northern Spain while still utilizing the impressive local produce available to us on our doorstep and this theme runs through the tapas menu and wine and drinks list found in the adjoining drinks bar area. Each room boasts access to our unique pantry areas for once the restaurant and drinks bar areas have closed. Traditional oak beams and sash windows are contrasted with top of the range Nespresso machines and flat screen television s while all guest beds are dressed in the very best Egyptian cotton. All five rooms have been furnished to the highest possible standard offering real comfort and individuality in equal measure. The property itself does not date back quite that far but it still retains many of the original Victorian features from the period it was contructed that lend it it s charm and individuality. Named after one of the characters in Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales who supposedly visited Wye as one of the last resting places before arriving in the historic City of Canterbury both the property and the surrounding region are steeped in history.
