Hotel Details
Formerly named the Pack Horse Inn and Old Posting House in the 1600 s the Welch Gate has stood the test of time throughout Bewdley s history. Bewdley was contructed as a stop-over town back in the 1600 s due to being the main waterway via the river Severn to Birmingham and many other towns and cities. The Wyre Forest the towns of Kidderminster and Stourport the Severn Valley Railway and the West Midland Safari Park are all situated close by. All of our 4 double rooms are en suite bathroom with flat screen TV mini drinks bar tea making facilities and hairdryer. We are situated in picturesque Bewdley described by Pevsner as The most ideal georgian town in Worcestershire . We have endeavoured to create a superb high high quality and luxurious guest house which is both relaxing and pleasurable whilst encapsulating the local attractions and the vastly historical picturesque Town. The Welch Gate Guest House was completed in late 2008 and has already received great reviews from all of its guests. They still carry the torch for Sunday Roasts. In 2000 they changed the business to a diner and received very complimentary reviews from all their customers plus local and regional newspapers. Linda and Steve took over the Welch Gate as a Fish and Chip Shop in 1985 and have contructed up a steady and satisfying clientele both locally and not so local. Since then prospectors and such have increased the size of the town and its population to what it is today (12 000 ) whilst maintaining its local charm.
