Situated in what was the exclusive region of Claremont Park the Cherry Blossom Inn was contructed as a private house by a wealthy wool merchant Rowland Rawlinson in 1899.
Originally called Fairthwaite it was sold to the Berry family in the 1920s.
All are en suite bathroom and most have ocean views.
The rooms are however comfy and warm with contemporary double glazing decor and facilities.
Downstairs there is a large public drinks bar region with original feature fireplaces where guests can sit and really enjoy their very best loved tipple while watching the trams glide past or on a stormy day can watch the waves from the Irish ocean lash the promenade.Don t expect to walk into a contemporary hotel we try to maintain the character of this building.
In 1990 the hotel underwent major renovation and was re-opened as the Cherry Blossom Hotel now the Cherry Blossom Inn.
Legend has it that Johnny Weissmuller (Tarzan) stayed here when he came to open the Derby Baths in 1936 and was enthralled by the view.
The deluxe guest room above on the second floor also benefits from the same turret bay window and its sweeping views are probably the very best you will get from any hotel in Blackpool.
Guests can sit in the turret bay window with its panoramic views of the promenade and watch the magnificent sunsets over the Irish Sea.
The guest lounge region on the first floor has a most beautiful ceiling and marble pillars.
There are ornately decorated ceilings along with a grand oak panel staircase leading up to the guest rooms.
It retains many of the grand original architectural features but sadly not all.
It remained a private house until around 1948 when it was converted into The Redcliffe Hotel.
They renamed it Redcliffe.
The Berry family were themselves big industrialists and bought the house as their seaside home.
