The public house is themed in a conventional style with many artifacts and pictures of local fishing scenes. Access between Portland and Abbotsbury can only be gained by crossing the Fleet (a stretch of tidal water home to many types of birds and ocean life). The towns Chesil Beach runs from Portland 18 miles west along the coast towards Bridport. To the west there are many picturesque villages the prettiest of which is probably Abbotsbury with its swanery Tythe Barn and sub tropical gardens. Further on can be found the Isle of Portland famous for its stone (once used to build St Paul s Cathedral among many of the other famous buildings throughout the country). Nearby Weymouth is a busy summer holiday resort catering for all types of visitors. Chickerell was originally a fishing village with connections to the Fleet and Moonfleet famous for its little church where Blackbeard supposedly buried his treasures.
