This Grade II listed property was contructed around 1650 and was originally named The Old Red Lion however was later renamed after Sir John Houblon one of the main landowners in the region and the first governor of the Bank of England - his picture can be seen on the reverse of the £50 note. With original oak beams and stone walls this inn has been restored most beautifully and many of the original architectural features remain.
