The Rockford Inn is one of England s finest Inns and one of the very best loved small hotels in Devon lies in the scenic Brendon Valley and is a great place to stay for those wishing to tour the vast open expanses of Exmoor National Park in North Devon just 4 miles up river from Lynton and Lynmouth.
The Rockford is part of a small hamlet hidden away deep in the heart of the most picturesque countryside.
We have two seasonal rate cards winter and summer where double rooms are just 60 UK Pounds per night comprising breakfast for two and we also have a small single guestroom with shower available for those on a tight budget.
As a conventional North Devon Inn we offer excellent home cooked seasonal foods local brewed real ales and comfy accommodation in which to stay with our open fires and wood burners we always provide a cosy and convivial ambience in which to relax and is popular with local farmers ramblers and fishermen alike.
After we have locked up guests retired to guest bed the only sounds you will hear are the peaceful tinkling waterfalls and the hooting of owls in the woods.
The sound of rushing water over the rocky rapids provides a tranquility to behold.
You can sit by our riverside patio and really enjoy a pint as you watch herons stalking salmon and trout as well as the odd unfortunate frog.
Down below in the valleys deer badger kingfisher and otter may be seen by those lucky and stealthy enough.
On top over the rugged windswept moors the wild Exmoor Ponies can be found along with cattle and sheep that roam grazing freely.
Fantastic riverside walks abound along National Trust footpaths which take you through woods past waterfalls rocky rapids and deep dark salmon-filled pools lined by lush green ferns and mosses.
The 17th century public house lies at the foot of a gorge over looking the dramatic East Lyn River as it carves it s way through the wild Devon moors down to the ocean at Lynmouth.
