Built in 1750AD the Sun is associated with the history of its local town Eastwood from the famous meetings in 1832 that saw the birth of the Midland Railway or with that of our locally well known author D.H Lawrence it is included in his famous novel Sons and Lovers and many of the features that are mentioned are still in place today enhancing the culture of the Sun Inn and its location.

The Sun Inn was visited as part of the Pentrich Revolution which was the last peasants uprising and occurred in 1817 the men involved were apprehended by a detachment of the King s Hussars in closeby Giltbrook.
