The Mitre Inn is located in the small village of Sandford Orcas just three and a half miles north of Sherborne tucked in the rolling hills of the Dorset countryside.
The public house was originally contructed in 1851 as a cider house but now as a freehouse we sell beer and cider from local breweries such as Apex Brewery and Yeovil Ales.
Two National footpaths pass through the village as well as a National cycle route (please see further details of the walks on our website).
If you have any exceptional dietary requirements please tell us in ahead of time of your visit we already have a choice for vegetarians.
Our food is served Tuesday-Sunday lunch time and evening (please note the public house does not serve food on Mondays and is closed Monday lunchtime).
Our public house menu consists of homemade soups and snacks and a choice of conventional hearty dishes such as home cooked ham egg and chips pies and steaks.
Guests can help themselves to the tea and coffee making facilities provided.
We serve conventional cooked English breakfast as well as fruit cereal and yoghurt which is included in the price and served between 7-9am.
Check in times are between 12-3pm.
Guests can use the public houses carpark throughout the duration of their stay complimentary of charge.
They will welcome you throughout your visit and whilst the public house is dog congenial unfortunately we are unable to allow pet dogs to stay in the letting rooms.
Allen and Cheryl have two breathe taking pet dogs Finlay and his daughter Freya.
The rooms have received high reviews on booking.com and trip advisor.
The owners Allen and Cheryl Page have now established two high standard letting rooms boasting en- guest suite shower rooms.
The present owners have run the public house since 1992 and having purchased the public house in 2014 have completed extensive renovation whilst still keeping the charm of the building.
