The city boasts of its Roman and Viking history and there are many reminders and attractions of their occupation of the city.
York is less than an hour away with its ancient buildings comprising York Minster dating back to the 12th century.

Closer to Gillamoor there is most beautiful Farndale awash with daffodils in the Spring it is a sight that even matches Woodsworth s poem! Using Gillamoor as your base you can tour the windswept landscape along well maintained but sometimes narrow country lanes.
We welcome families and their pet dogs and even provide a grazing/stabling service for horses there are some excellent trails to tour either riding cycling or walking around the village with magnificent views.
As we mentioned earlier this is a working farm with the house dating back to the 17th Century.
