Tim Claire and family have created a relaxed informal hotel where you are able to sit back by the open fire and really enjoy conventional real ale or play pool darts or other conventional public house games.
It has always been popular and notable visitors over the centuries comprise King Robert the Bruce King James IV Bonnie Prince Charlie and Robert Burns.
It s a bustling village with a long history and strong community spirit.
Moniaive the Hill of Streams (from the Gaelic monadh-abh) nestles in impressive landscape where the three glens of Craigdarroch Dalwhat and Castlefairn meet.
Meals can be taken in the drinks bar lounge region or restaurant all our food is made from scratch on the premises and we try where possible to use locally sourced ingredients.
Residents or non-residents alike can really enjoy the food served at the Craigdarroch.
Prices comprise a full perfectly cooked breakfast or packed lunch if preferred.
There is also a three bedroom flat available comprising of two double rooms a bunk room shower room and bathroom.
We have 7 rooms all en suite bathroom with a mixture of twins doubles and singles and a family room comprising of a double and bunk beds.
The hotel also has a restaurant serving food seven days a week a large beer garden and complimentary wi fi.
The games room has a card table pool table and dartboard to while away the hours.
The lounge region drinks bar with its huge open fire is a lovely place to relax after a hard day in the hills or by the river bank.
Macaras is a conventional Scottish drinks bar with log burner where musicians often turn up for a session or you can really enjoy a blether with the locals.
