The Hotel Commodore and Spa is a former ten bedroom Rectory property contructed in the late 19th century in the height of the Arts and Crafts movement and was commissioned by the Archdeacon Henry De Winton.
Some years later it was converted into a grand Victorian Hotel with its first premises license being issued in 1903 giving the hotel a grade 1 listing due to it architectural heritage and historical interest .
