Hotel Details

Carlton Riverside is a Restaurant-with-Rooms and is one of the very best restaurants in Britain highly rated by all the independent guide books and most recently voted one of the Top 100 UK Restaurants by Restaurant Magazine.
It occupies the second oldest property in Llanwrtyd Wells the smallest town in Britain.
Parking is not a problem here as there is a complimentary public carpark just opposite the restaurant.
Other places of interest comprise the famous book town of Hay-on-Wye the Whisky Distillery at Brecon and The Royal Welsh Showground at Builth Wells which hosts the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show every July.
Oakwood also boasts the largest wooden roller coaster anywhere people come from all over the world just to ride it.
If you are accompanied by children there is an activity centre closeby and a major theme park Oakwood just to the west of Carmarthen with amazing rides for both young children and their older siblings which will render them exhausted in no time.
If you are interested in rail travel the Heart of Wales Line (Shrewsbury-Swansea line) runs through the town and the station is a 5 minute to walk from Carlton Riverside.
The historic city of Hereford is only fifty miles to the east and to the south you have the shops of Swansea and Cardiff.
Not far from Aberglasny stands the National Botanic Garden of Wales with its massive glass house and landscaped grounds and if you like a bit of history Powis Castle and Gardens are 1 hour away to the north.
Aberglasny is very most beautiful and features a lovely walled garden and a thousand year old Yew tunnel.
If you are horticultural minded there are several gardens within a short drive of Llanwrtyd Wells.
There is also a breathe taking Roman Amphitheatre at Caerleon near Newport which is well worth a visit.
We are also well placed to visit the castles of the Marches such as Raglan Caerphilly and Chepstow as well as the fairytale Castel Coch (the Red Castle) a 13th Century castle re-built by the Marquis of Bute who refashioned Cardiff Castle in the same high Victorian style.
If you fancy a day by the ocean the resorts of Newquay Aberaeron and Aberystwyth are a mere hour s drive away Tenby Saundersfoot or the Gower Peninsula just a little further.
Horse riding can also be arranged as this was the original home of Welsh pony trekking! - just give us a call and we will organise everything for you whether horses bikes or whatever.
Golf is available at the Builth Wells golf club a mere 15 minutes away.
Bird watching is also a very popular pastime and the once endangered red kite now flourishes in this area.
Mountain biking is a growing sport and this is a very popular region to indulge in this activity and bikes can readily be hired locally.
There are breathe taking walks to be had without any necessity to drive you can just set off straight from the front door.
Llanwrtyd Wells nestles at the foot of the Cambrian Mountains a stunningly most beautiful range of mountains and valleys and one of Wales s very best kept secrets.
Carlton Riverside sits on the south bank of the River Irfon a lovely crystal-clear stream flowing through the middle of the town.
